Album Info:The wreck photos at Chippewa Falls, WI was train 944 that hit a washout in the middle of the night derailing 35 cars. The wreck photos of Annandale MN was an extra east grain train that broke a coupler and derailed 10 cars, 5 of them were scrapped.

SOO WRECK

Description:  On a dark and very stormy night train 944 hit a wash out west of Chippewa Falls. The engines and 1 car stayed on the tracks, but 35 cars behind that derailed. Was on the wrecking crew and was called out. We worked for almost 24 hours with Hulcher to clear the mainline and get the trains rolling.

Description:  This is our crew cutting the end off the flat car. They were trying to clear the siding to build a shoo fly track to get trains moving. The other end of the flat car was through 2 boxcars that were side by side filled with cedar siding.

Description:  This is were the other end of the SOO 5667 flatcar ended up. The dark CP boxcar was too close to the track in the foreground. They tried to move it but is was too wedged in and it wouldn't budge. A Hulcher Cat came up and ripped up the end of the car to give clearence we needed to clear the track.

Description:  The guys standing on top of the wrecked container were trying decide how to get the hazardous chemicals out. The chemicals was an adhesive in 5 gallon buckets.

Description:  This is to show how powerful and how much rain that was in the area. Just up the road from the wreck is this driveway that washed out. The culver is to the right out of the picture and it was about 4 feet in diameter.
